2020 HKDSE Results to be released in late July

Although it was once postponed due to coronavirus pandemic, the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examinations for over 50,000 candidates finished in June 2020. It would be unlikely for the HKEAA to deliver the HKDSE safely without concerted and extra efforts from all participating schools, teachers and examination personnel in implementing various precautionary measures at the examination centres.

Tentatively, the HKEAA plans to release the 2020 HKDSE results in late July. This year more than 700,000 HKDSE scripts will be marked onscreen by 4,300 markers at 12 assessment centres across Hong Kong. Although the marking period has been critically shortened this year, the HKEAA is committed to preserving quality and standard of marking to ensure that the candidates are fairly assessed.

HKDSE Predicted Level Study and SBA arrangements for 2021

As one of the contingency measures for possible cancellation of the public examination due to extreme conditions in the future, the 2020 HKDSE Predicted Level Study was conducted to build statistical models for predicting school candidates’ HKDSE Category A subject results from their school internal assessment. Schools are invited to submit marks before 26 June via the Predicted Level Study System and a report with feedback will be provided to each of them in September 2020. Click here to learn more.

Due to class suspension since late January 2020, while secondary schools have resumed class recently, the HKEAA has reviewed the School-based Assessment (SBA) requirements for students entering the 2021 HKDSE to facilitate schools’ and students’ completion of the SBA in time. After the deliberate consideration of the Subject Committees and the Public Examinations Board, the SBA requirements for the 2021 HKDSE cohort are streamlined by reducing the number of assessment tasks to be completed in ten subjects. For details of the streamlining, please refer to the revised Assessment Frameworks.

2021 HKDSE Examination Fees and Registration for Other Language Subjects

After considering various factors, such as the HKEAA’s overall financial position, the local economic situation as well as the affordability of the examination fees for candidates and parents, etc., the HKEAA Council decided to freeze the examination fees for the HKDSE. Please read the 2021 HKDSE examination fees schedule.

Meanwhile, registration for the 2021 HKDSE Category C subjects (Other Languages – November 2020 series) begin on 29 June 2020. All six Category C subjects, namely French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Spanish and Urdu will be offered, and the results will be released in early 2021. Click here for more details.
